Happy New Year!

I wish this is what my entry way table looked like... maybe next year, right?
Oh and... I kind of, sort of, really wish I was here:

finally some time to post

These are the party favors I made for our Christmas Eve party. Our theme was "Christmas Caroling" so I thought it was appropriate to make some carolers. I made one that looked like each guest at our party and filled them with candy. They each got to take their favor home with them.

And here is an Angel ornament that I made to put on a Christmas present. I think she turned out pretty cute.

isn't this fun?

I can't remember where I found this picture. I was blog hopping and came across it. I would love to make one of these for my front door... maybe next Christmas!
I love the holidays and I am getting a little sad that they soon will be over... so I guess I am off to enjoy every little minute that is remaining.

Joy Banner

This banner was so easy to make. I just cut some burlap and stenciled the letters on with Red acrylic paints. I strung the letters from some twine and tied ribbon and fabric strips to add some color.

Burlap and Muslin Stocking

I made this stocking from burlap and muslin so it was very inexpensive to make. I dressed it up with some ribbon and sequins and some cream lace. I love how it has a vintage sort of feel to it.

Kid's Folding Table and Chairs Makeover

I am so mad that I didn't remember to take a "before" picture of the table. It was pretty beat up. This table used to be red and blue and it had rips in it and was covered in paint. I covered the table and chairs with some fabric and clear vinyl and then I spray painted the legs of the table and chairs with black spray paint. I think it turned out really nice. My husband said it's the classiest table for kids that he's ever seen. ha ha.

Going "Green"

I've been playing around with making ornaments with recycled stuff since I don't have money in the budget to buy any new holiday decorations. The first two ornaments are made from chipboard shapes that I already had and I glued the inside of security envelopes (inspired by this fabulous blog) for the pattern paper on the front and then embellished them with rhinestones, glitter and buttons.
These next two ornaments were made from cut up strips of old magazines. The first one I cut strips of magazines and weaved them together before I glued them to the chipboard.
I think this last one is my favorite... maybe because it took the longest to make? I made paper beads (I have been making paper beads since I was little, thanks to my Mom for teaching me how) out of old magazines and strung them on wire to make a snowflake and then I glued a button to the center.
I am definitely going to have to make more "recycled" ornaments!!! Enjoy.

Thanksgiving Favors

I made this fun Thanksgiving Favor that could also be used as a name card at each guest's plate. I used "Ashely's Blossoms" stamp set from My Cute Stamps and the template can be found at Martha Stewart's Website.

Tinkerbell & a Monarch Butterfly

My girls looked so cute on Halloween. I made both of their costumes and I think they turned out pretty darn cute. Especially since I didn't have a pattern for the Tinkerbell top. What did you and your kids dress up as?

This makes me want to hurl...

but it is really funny at the same time. Could you imagine if I decided to make these instead of really carving my pumpkins and place these all over my porch? Ha ha!

Paper Mache Holiday House

Yes I know that it is a little early for Christmas Decor, but I just got in the mood to create this fun paper mache house. I love paper mache houses that are all decorated with glitter for the holidays. I don't know why I haven't made one of my own until now. It was so fun to do. I just bought one of these unfinished paper mache houses and painted it a mint green color. Painted the roof white for snow.
I added a door and some shutters out of chipboard and painted them white. I backed the windows with vellum and to add the final touches I used ribbon, pearls and tinsel pipe cleaner and clear glitter of course!

Ugly Owl Frame

I bought this beauty from a yard sale for 25 cents. I removed the owl picture... it had to go as it doesn't fit into my decor. :)
I gave the frame a few coats of a dark brown spray paint and filled the frame with this Turkey picture... I thought this would be a nice piece to display with my Thanksgiving Decorations since I only have a couple. I will try to remember to post pictures when I have it all displayed.

Halloween Decor that I Adore!

Both of these images come from Country Living. I love all the bats on the door. How cute is that?
Oooh, and aren't these just so fabulous? I love the black and the white twist. Makes Halloween seem a little more classy that all the cheap Halloween decor that has all the fake blood... just not my taste is all.

I have always loved these birdcages when I came across them in home decor stores, but never wanted to fork out the $40 or so to actually take one home with me. I was delighted when I came across this one at a yard sale for only $3. Wahooooo, what a steal. I like it this color, but I am trying to decide if I should paint it white or a light robin's egg blue color and distress it. Or, do I just keep it how it is. Any suggestions?

I love seeing what other people are up to in their lives. I love reading blogs, especially while I eat my breakfast. To me it is like reading the morning paper, only way more interesting! Anyway, if anyone has a blog that they would like to share with me, I would love to read it! Just leave me a comment with your link. Thanks so much! Happy Blogging.

Pictures as Promised

Isn't it so cool what a little paint and wood can do for a room? All of our walls were white so I painted them. This paint color is called Ocean Pearl. It is a Behr color, but I had them color match it in Glidden, my paint of choice.
My husband put up the wainscoting and then luck me got to putty and caulk. It was so tedious, but I wanted to do a good job so that it would look good.
Here is the finished wall in the Entry Way/ Living Room area. I am still working on the wall in the kitchen/nook. I will post pictures of that when I am done.
