Oh I wish I wasn't so practical (and frugal)

I just can't justify spending this much on clothing for my two little girls, but sometimes I really wish I could. Aren't these clothes from Chasing Fireflies so very yummy?

I could have posted pretty much their whole website on here. ha ha, but these are a few of my most favorite.

White Chocolate Cinnamon Valentine Popcorn

I didn't really use a recipe, but I probably used about 6-8 cups of air popped popcorn. (you can always use microwave though).I melted 4 cubes of white chocolate and added 1/8tsp. of Cinnamon Oil. Then I mixed it well to coat the popped popcorn. Next I added some sprinkles. Aren't they so cute? Pour coated popcorn onto a foil lined cookie sheet for easy clean up.

I then melted some more white chocolate and colored it pink with some food coloring and drizzled it over the popcorn.
Let the popcorn set up and when the chocolate is dry break up the pieces and enjoy! YUM!

Fuzzy Yarn Heart Tutorial

I saw some hearts similar to these at a local home decor store. I wanted to buy some, but I knew I had all the supplies and that I could probably make my own! The ones at the store were Red, which were really, really cute, but I didn't have Red yarn so I used what I had.
First of all, trace or draw a heart shape on some styro foam. I used some styro foam that had come in a box with dishes in it... good way to recycle, right?
Next cut out the heart. I used my super nifty heat styro foam cutter, but you could use a knife.
Now use hot glue and begin wrapping your styro foam heart with yarn.

There you have it... some really easy, inexpensive, light-weight Valentine hearts to help add a little bit of fun to your holiday!
Enjoy. (Sorry these pictures aren't the best. The lighting wasn't very good.)

Eye Candy

I love this idea from Better Homes & Gardens. I think candy sprinkles are so cute and I love, love, love the idea of putting it in a votive and using it for Valentine's decor. Actually, I think it would be cute any time of year... Halloween would be cute with Fall colors...etc.

I made this cute little cupid box a few years ago and I sold it, luckily only to a friend, but I am now thinking I need to make one for me to keep. It puts a smile on my face! The cupid sits on top of a papier mache box and I made the cupid out of styrofoam, wire and paperclay and then I painted it with acrylic paints!

Valentine Door Decor

Do you remember this post? Here is my take on this cute wreath from Blue Cricket Design blog.
I started with a frame that I found a thrift store and painted it this pale pink. I found some foam hearts covered with glitter and the craft store and some fun ribbon. I don't think it turned out as cute as the one on Blue Cricket, but I am happy with how it turned out... I might play around with the ribbon some more when I have time. I just used what I could find around the house. Enjoy!

a whole lot of LOVE

I will be adding this little Valentine Girl to my Etsy shop sometime this week.
She comes all decked out in red and sparkles with a cute little purse. Check out my shop if you are interested!

This "Be Mine" banner will also be making an appearance sometime this week in my Etsy shop as well. It is made with red flannel and is stuffed with batting and has a little sparkle added with some rhinestones and sequins. I love how this turned out, which makes the fact that it took me 4 hours to make it somewhat ok. ;)

It would be cute to hang it anywhere, but I thought it looked cute hanging on my daughters bed next to the pretty aqua color. What do you think?

My sister signed me up and paid for a cake decorating class at a local craft store. Isn't that so nice? I have always wanted to take a class, but never have gotten around to it. She wants me to have plenty of practice making cakes as she wants me to make her Wedding Cake... no pressure, right? ha! I am enjoying the class a lot and here is my first cake... not too terrible.
Anyway, that is all for now. Check out my Etsy shop this week for some fun new items that I will be listing!

Build Your Own Dessert Plate

I've said it before that I love cake platters/ dessert plates, but how much fun it can be to make your own!!! Not only is it fun, but inexpensive.
I bought the little bird from a local home decor store for about $1.25 on sale, I found the plate at Anthropologie for $3 on sale and the candlestick was from Dollar Tree for, of course, $1.
I used E6000 Glue to stick it all together.

Not too bad for $5.25, right?

I "LOVE" Burlap

My friend asked me if I would help her come up with an idea for a Valentine's Day Banner and I thought that burlap would be the perfect material for this. It was really easy and only took about 30 minutes to make. The best part is that it requires NO sewing. I used hot glue.
First I made a heart pattern and traced it onto the back of the banner using a washable fabric marker. I cut the hearts out using pinking shears to help with any fraying. I then found a font that I liked and printed it out in a large size and cut the letters out of stiff felt. I used the glue gun to adhere the letters and then the hearts onto some jute twine.

To dress up the banner a bit I just tore some thin strips of red and white fabric and tied them in a knot onto the jute twine and there you have it... a super easy, no-sew banner for a little bit of Valentine's Day decor! Enjoy! I would love to see some pictures if anyone ends up making their own!

Valentine's Already?

As soon as Christmas is over I start to think about Valentine's Day. I love the Red, Pink and Glitter. I invited my Mom and sister over to teach them how to make these fun little dolls. Don' you think they turned out cute?
This one is my Mom's... I think she is really sweet!

This one is my sister, Trishas... look at those cute braids.

Here is mine... she is a little bit on the glamorous side, totally decked out in glitter and feathers.
Enjoy. I think some of these will be making an appearance in my Etsy shop in the upcoming weeks.
